I work with a private allied healthcare group providing dietetic care to people in residential care or in their homes as part of the My Aged Care package and NDIS. The bulk of my caseload is older or vulnerable people with complex and multiple health conditions including Parkinsons disease, dementia, cancers, heart disease, diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease and other chronic diseases.
Health advocacy
I compliment my work in the practice with volunteer advocacy work for people who have a higher weight. Weight stigma is a real barrier to accessing appropriate healthcare and selfcare in Australia. It unfairly affects the health and wellbeing of so many people.
I am a member of the Lived Experience Leadership Group at the Weight Issues Network and in the Stigma Expertise Group at the Obesity Collective. Until recently, I managed the Obesity Collective, Australia's peak body for overweight and obesity in Australia. I recognise that "obesity" is an uncomfortable word for many people who have a higher weight and I am personally more comfortable with the term "higher weight". In clinic, the language I use reflects that which my client is comfortable using.

Research
I have been involved in several research projects for Deakin University on the clinical guidelines for the management of overweight and obesity, and parent focused nutrition programs to improve children's healthy food intake and health outcomes.
I am also the Chair of the Stakeholder Panel at University of Sydney's "Eating Disorders In weight-related Therapy (EDIT) Collaboration", and the Chair of their Weight Stigma Working Group.
